Match Report
Prakash Amritraj vs. Go Soeda
Well to start with this article, there was many questions by numerous fans that why Prakash should have place today’s match? Why not give him the rest? He had faced matches in 3 days (excluding today) and 3 of those matches were 3 setters.
The whole match Prakash was in the line between winning and losing. Fatigue was clearly shown in Prakash’s game. Go Soeda had a scare, no doubt we in the end he won Prakash 7-6 6-3 6-4.
Set 1.
Soeda steamed to a 2-0 lead in less than 5 minutes , he had 3 break points to go up 3-0 , but Prakash’s serve who was his come back weapon rescued him . Prakash actually in the beginning was consistent signs of fatigue was never shown, his wonderful serve the volley’s were a great highlight. Go Soeda known was his amazing back hand winner hard hitting consistency didn’t fail to show why he was best at what he does.
Prakash had 3 set points, but Go Soeda was very persistent that he would not let Prakash win the set easily, had produce utter magically return shots which Prakash had no answer to. After breaking back it Go Soeda all the way, powering through the tie breaker (7-2) to win the first set 7-6.
Set 2
Prakash through the whole tournament had called for assistance after every set, not sure if he was injured or not but we knew for sure that he was fatigue.
But he was a fighter; he showed exactly that in the 2nd set. The 3 rd game is when Soeda started to make unforced errors. After then on Prakash Amritraj defensive skills rose up to a new level and his winners were following in the fastest manner possible. How ever Soeda didn’t completely fail in the set, in the 7th game he came with 3 continuous fore hand winners and an ace. Prakash continued on to win the set 6-3.
Set 3.
As stated in the 1st set , how well Prakash was doing close to the net , he continued with the same consistency , but signs of fatigue was drastically shown by Prakash .His first serve “speed “ wasn’t has fast it was as it was . Errors from both Prakash’s forehand and backhand were adding more and more.
The 9th game was a crucial old for Prakash , everything happened in that game ,Prakash served amazingly , hit beautiful forehand down the line winners, but Soeda was just amazing with his backhand , he amount of power and depth he created was unimaginable , Prakash who was able to return those power shots wasn’t able to return them with power nor depth . Soeda showed class in his play, he brought unexpected shots , even surprising the crowd with some amazing drop shots . He closed the match with an ace , and errors from Prakash led to his victory .
